What’s Trust Got To Do With It?

What’s Trust Got to Do With It?

The answer to that questions is TONS~

I recently recorded a show about trust with

my friend Ruth Hartman of  www.wheelmakerinc.com

where we looked at 3 aspects of life  from the point of

view of Trust; Thriving, Generating Connection, and

Improving Relationships.

I want to share some key points here from the show.

In our conversation we discovered a pattern emerging in how

Trust is built.  We realized that before anything can really

begin there must be a  (1) willingness or curiosity to engage

either in an activity, a behavior, or with an individual.

That willingness is something that no one can generate

for us, it is our opportunity to choose!

The second step in increasing trust was to

(2) extend a bit of trust and take a risk while at

the same time staying in touch with what we’re

feeling and watching for results.

The third step was (3) relaxing and opening to

receive the support that we were asking for

by trusting.  Without relaxing we observed less

trust was given and consequently less support was offered.

There was a correlation between what and how much

we gave and what we got.

(4) Noticing the results, seeing if what was trusted

was actually trustworthy. Our definition of trustworthy

was willing, reliable, and capable. Did we trust well?

Did we feel supported?  Once we experienced safety

in our results we found that we were more relaxed and were

able to be willing to trust more and open to receive

greater support.  It seemed that our being open to receive was as

integral to building the connection as was the other party being reliable.

So the cycle that emerged was:

Willingness

extend Trust (take a risk)

open to Receive

Notice results

If the results proved trust-worthy we were then more willing

to trust more and more open to receive.  In fact, this

cycle was natural and just emerged.  The relationships also

deepened and became more joyful in the process.

Old doubts and fears were also challenged by new results!

There was also a tangible experience of vitality

increasing and new beliefs forming!

Here are some conclusions we drew:

When we trust in stages noticing results and

only giving more trust when it is proven that the

situation/person is trust-worthy we are taking care

of ourselves.  We realize we can trust ourselves!

When we trust ourselves it is easier to be willing

to take the next steps that will lead to living more fully.

When we trust others it gives them an opportunity

to see their strengths and character.

Trust is like a muscle; when we exercise it, it becomes stronger.

The more we let go and trusted the more natural it

felt to let go.  Our courage, confidence, peace, and

power of connection were boosted.

Our Desire to experience more motivates us to to trust more.

The more I trust the more I receive.

In order to fully receive I have to relax.

Great results helped dissolved old doubts, fears, and beliefs

that kept us from moving forward.

We realized  that having a positive premise like the Universe

supports me, makes it easier and more fun to trust and relax!

Please share your realizations and

experiences here about Trust ~

Thank you

Karen
