The following quote by Andy Warhol appeared on Robyn Wakefields’s web site as her juicy reminder on August 18th (see http://www.urbangoddess.org/ ): “They say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself.”

Robyn has some antenna stretching out to the big tug of war going on between Saturn, Uranus and Pluto. Suddenly, this month, we are challenged to put our dreamy changes into motion. We can stop complaining that we can’t get what we want. It’s time to focus on cooperating with life and become a co-creator with making those changes happen.

I ought to know. I’m finally in the process of moving. After months of wondering where will I live and where will I office and when will all this happen, it is happening. In order to assist the universe (!) in arranging the changes, I have had to focus on many details—like packing and talking to AT&T. The planets couldn’t do that part for me. Finally I have a moment to send out an encouraging reminder that astrology works if we assume our part. As above, so below. Whatever happened “up there” is now happening “down here” but I have to do the physical plane labor to put that “down here” into motion.

The New Moon in Leo (August 9) gave the creative juice for getting the train out of the station. For some of us life has been non-stop since that New Moon. The visions we have held for many months are suddenly taking form. Not everyone may experience this. It all depends on where Saturn in Libra, Uranus/Jupiter in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn fall in your horoscope. For many weeks, these planets have been pulling, constricting, irritating and intensifying our desires for internal and/or external transformation. Suddenly the arrow is released and we are flying.

The Sun slipped into Virgo on August 22. Time to focus on the details of the changes we have been making. For months many of us have been holding the dream of some big change we want to make. The planetary stress with Saturn/Uranus/Pluto has made our dream for change prolonged and laborious. The movement of these big planets into the cardinal (or moveable) arena has pushed many changes into action and reality. The Virgo Sun gives us a package of energy to attend to the minutia on the to-do list.

Today is August 24 and the Full Moon is shinning in Pisces. Pisces (the dream and the vision) opposes Virgo (the organizer). If you are not making any big change at the moment, then at least take time to hold the tension between your dreams and your concrete activities (that Virgo energy). One word of caution: the Full Moon in Pisces sits close to Neptune (the ruler of Pisces). This means we may dream too big or we may try to escape some problem or challenge. The Sun opposing in Virgo tries to help us stay grounded and focused.

Mercury is currently retrograde in Virgo (August 20 through September 12). Instead of worrying about snafus and computer breakdowns, try to be pro-active. Check your car, confirm appointment times and reach out to people you haven’t talked to in a while. And please keep in mind that retrograde periods are great for bringing the past into the present. In preparing to move I came across an old photograph that I decided to frame and hang on the new wall. I googled the friend involved in this photo and now we are emailing. That’s a positive Mercury retrograde event, especially in a technology sign like Virgo. Mercury is the ruler of Virgo. The inter-net is a Mercury-communication-vehicle. Instantly I am reconnected with an old friend. Mercury retrograde can be a positive experience, not just a time of problems.

I have just finished reading your latest book, Eternal Life: A New Vision. I believe the thought you stated, but I have been afraid and almost ashamed to admit it. I am 81 years old and my journey of faith has involved many changes. I certainly enjoy reading your weekly columns and look forward each week to reading your latest series on “The Origins of the New Testament.” After reading your book, however, I am curious about your position on prayer. I will appreciate receiving your thoughts.

Congratulations on reaching your 81st birthday. You are just a little ahead of me!

Thank you for your comments on my book and columns.

I think about prayer frequently. I write about it seldom. I can, however, refer you to two places. The first is in my first book, “Honest Prayer,” originally published in 1973, but now back in print through St. Johan’s Press in Haworth, New Jersey. It is a book that was inspired by conversations I had with a woman in the mountain town of Pearisburg, Virginia, named Cornelia Newton, who was in her early forties, married to a doctor and the mother of three young children. She was dying of an incurable malignancy. It is what I all “early Spong,” that is, it represented my early attempts to make sense out of life’s tragedies. I do not today disagree with anything I said there, but over the years I have moved beyond where I was when that book was written, not so much to a different place, but to a deeper place. In 2002, I dedicated two chapters to the subject of prayer in a book entitled, A New Christianity for a New World. That reflects much more my present understanding of prayer, but it is ever changing and ever growing.

To respond quickly, the way one thinks about prayer is determined almost 100% by how one understands the meaning of God. For most people, God is an external, supernatural presence, who can come to our aid, setting aside the laws of the universe to accomplish a divinely inspired purpose. It is that concept of God which, I believe, distorts human life again and again. That understanding presents us with a parent God who keeps us in the status of being perpetual, spiritual children. This is also an immoral God who has the power to influence events in the world and yet seldom uses it. This is a God who had the power to stop tragedy, but instead allows such things as the Holocaust, the Bubonic Plague, the devastation of hurricanes and Tsunamis and who even is said to use sickness to punish sinners. That definition of God results in a chaotic world run by a capricious, but not necessarily a loving, deity. I believe that this God has died in light of a new understanding of the universe brought about by Galileo and by our understanding of how the universe operates developed for us by Isaac Newton, Louis Pasteur and many others. That idea of God is little more than a wish fulfillment deity, a supernatural being who lives above the sky ready to spring into action whenever we ask this God to do so. Such a God definition is no longer viable or believable. I do not believe in a God who will plug the oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico in response to our prayers.

For many people, this recognition represents the end of religion. If the supernatural deity cannot come to our aid then why should we bother with religion at all? For me, however, this is nothing more than the recognition that we must find a new way to think about God and thus a new understanding of what it means to pray. To chart that new possibility is a major piece of why I wrote Eternal Life: A New Vision. It also requires a new Christology, which I sought to develop in my book, Jesus for the Non-Religious.

To say it briefly, prayer becomes something you are, not something you do. Your life and consciousness become the channel through which the meaning of God flows into human life. Prayer becomes the activity of opening your life to this deeper presence, this transcendent power we call God. Petition becomes the way you share life and love with others. Intercession becomes your willingness to be involved in causes of justice that help to build a world in which all people can live fully, love wastefully and be all they can be. Thanksgiving becomes the constant awareness of the way God changes lives. Meditation and contemplation become the means of spiritual growth and the development of a God consciousness and the praying person becomes deeply aware that God works through his or her life constantly. I think it is a beautiful vision. I am still living into it.

Developing Your Inner Senses

and Managing Your Abilities

One of my favorite hours during the week is

my Friday morning Psychic Readings Show.

So many of my listeners have called in with

questions and topics that inspire REAL sharing and

provide me with the opportunity to take you

deeper on your path as a Spiritual Being having a

human experience!

Today’s Show was no exception.

Several affirmations were shared during the

show as guidance for callers and I’d like to

expand on one here.

Create Healthy Boundaries

But First some groundwork needs to be laid:

We are all Spiritual Beings and as Spiritual Beings

we have 5 inner senses that parallel our 5 physical

senses of taste, touch, hearing, seeing, and smell.

These inner senses work just like the outer ones

but are metaphysical, beyond the physical, superior

to the physical in that they are keener and do not rely

on physical information to be experienced.

The inner senses can tell us what our outer senses

cannot.

Everyone is born with the all of these senses and

some will develop the ability to tune their awareness

to them while some are born already aware.

It is on everyone’s path to become fully aware of

all that they are capable of so that they can

actualize their fullest expression of their

Divine Nature.

Our Divine Nature is to be made in the image

and likeness of the Creator.  For the purpose

of the information I want to share here I will

not explain that statement now.  Suffice it to say

that as Spiritual Beings we have much more

power than we are aware of and to grow means

to become Self-Aware.

Our inner senses are the tools that we use to

become more aware of our our Divine Nature.

Each person is unique in that they will develop this

awareness in different ways and the pacing of their

growth varies widely usually dependent on their

level of willingness to trust and let go of what they

feel they know, and their level of desire to grow.

OK  that said, what does Creating Healthy Boundaries

have to do with becoming aware of who we are?

Even though we are already all that we will ever

become, like the oak tree existing within the seed,

in time and space we deal with potential because

we experience ourselves as if we are becoming

divine/ whole/complete.

While becoming is an illusion in the realm of Spirit

it is very much the perception and the

case within the physical world, that there is a process

which we are going through and a sense of a destination

that we have not yet reached when we contemplate

what we have been told about ourselves by great

teachers like Buddha and Jesus who taught

the truth of who we ARE.

So it is in that experience of becoming that

boundaries have their place.

It is easy to perceive the illusion of

not being Divine as we experience

ourselves evolving and changing.

It is that illusion that closes our consciousness off

to knowing we are safe and do not need to control

or defend ourselves.

When our perception is limited  we feel danger the ego,

that is the mask we wear in the physical world,

begins to defend and protect us in our sense of

separateness and perceived smallness.

We are not the ego.

When we know this we begin to drop the

defenses and fear that come from feeling small.

Until we know we are not the ego boundaries

are a healthy substitute for the walls and defenses the

ego constructs to stay in it’s illusion of control

motivated by fear.

Healthy Boundaries accomplish several things for us.

First they provide some limits that create a sense of

containment an inside and an outside, a me and a them,

so we can feel we have a choice about how much or how little

we want to share, how close we want to be with others or

how close we allow them to be with us, and  what behaviours

are acceptable and not acceptable for us.

Boundaries are kind of like the game rules on the

underside of the box that tell us how to play the game

and when someone or something is ‘off’ or out of order.

This sense of structure  becomes

our ‘place’ and takes some of the pressure off of the ego to make

endless decisions again and again of what is and isn’t ok.

Another benefit to having healthy boundaries is that we

actually feel more freedom to explore and experience

life more fully because we know we can trust the decisions

we made for ourselves by setting boundaries.

Without healthy boundaries you may never feel safe enough to

venture outside of your patterns and adopted beliefs.  You may

remain trapped inside certain that the Universe is not a friendly

place that is here to support you in creating your desires.

Are boundaries necessary once you begin

to identify with your Divine Nature?

Once we become much more identified with our Greatness

and much less identified with our smallness  I think

boundaries cease to exist because from that source point

we see that separation is an illusion revealing boundaries as a

construction, a compensation which was important until now

to feel safe but they are not a reality.

Since many are not yet embracing the reality of their

Greatness I say Healthy Boundaries are some of the

building blocks to realizing the truth of who you are!

Create away and when the time comes to take yourself

up a notch so to speak on the evolving consciousness

proverbial ladder let go of the boundaries that feel limiting

and create some new ones that support you in exploring

Your Universe~

You ALWAYS get what you expect.

It’s true and you will soon see how

this works without fail in your life.

Every thought is creative, every thought

is a seed.  The type of seed you plant is

always what you harvest…. you plant

corn seeds you get……. corn, right!

Well thoughts are like seeds in that

they end up manifesting eventually

especially if you keep enforcing them

with your words and actions.

Just like seeds in a garden will sprout, grow,

and eventually bare fruit so do your thoughts.

So if your thoughts are generally positive

but not very deliberate, just kind of random

and mediocre that’s probably the level

of experiences your life is bringing you.

Better than being full of negative thoughts right?

And certainly not as fun as the life you could

be living !

What if you really believed what I’m saying here;

that your thoughts = your experience and you

DECIDE to become more deliberate, more

involved, more conscious about what you think

to the point of creating an INTENTION for your

life?

What would you intend for yourself?

What would your life look like when that

intention manifests?

How will you feel when you have what you want?

In my experience this cause and effect principle of

thinking and then having the thoughts you

think manifest never fails and it is perfect.

Regardless of whether or not you like

what is showing up in your life your ability to

manifest is a demonstration of your

power and creativity.

Once we take responsibility for our thoughts

and become more deliberate life becomes

more friendly and the illusion of being

a victim of anyone or anything dissolves

followed by a freedom that is so liberating

that you may never again deny your power!

and to that I say Amen ~

” I easily think the thoughts that bring me

what I want.”

Spirit defies Logic

Your Spirit, Higher Self, Guidance, The Christ Within,

whatever you want to label that inner Light does defy logic.

Your Spirit is not restricted by time and space like your

physical body is and KNOWS what will aide you in

manifesting your intentions and desires.

Logic is good for getting through the day, communicating

with others, being on time for appointments, and doing

your 9-5 tasks.

What logic is not so good at is thinking

‘outside the box’ of the known.

If we rely only on

our logic how will we ever grow beyond what we

already know?

Sure we can re-arrange what we

know and it can look like we’re growing but

are we really creating anything new beyond

another way of looking at the same thing?

Sometimes shifting perspective is

very healing and it’s limited to dealing with

what we’ve already defined therefor it is

not new.

Our other option is to increase our Trust

level and we do that by letting go of

needing to know and understand what

is or isn’t going on and Relax while

we are Intending to Receive our desires.

Now that’s the recipe for Joy!

TRUST….. LET GO… RELAX… RECEIVE !

in that order.

The name for that recipe is SPIRIT.

Spirit does defy logic…..

Trust, let go, relax when you’re feeling like

you need to DO something to improve,

survive, or change your situation?

Spirit will encourage you to BE first

perhaps do something after but BE first

and to breathe in, not to hold your breath

but to relax and expect that you are being

taken care of.

Spirit responds, Logic reacts if it is

coming from fear or a sense of lack.

Remember when things in your life get

absurd there’s probably a Spiritual lesson

at hand.

Open to Trust rather than relying

on your past experience/logic

to meet the opportunity

and

Breathe

” Follow Spirit not logic.

Let go of trying to use logic

to understand Spirit. Use

your logic while you are following

your Spirit, not the other way around”!
